Position of your recycle bin

I've noticed how everyone places their recycle bin in different places on the desktop. I like to keep mine in the bottom right corner because it's easy to drag stuff there, but I notice some of you just put it anywhere like any other icon. Where do you like to put your recycle bin and why? Do you even drag items into it or do you just delete them by right clicking them? Is your position of your recycle bin universal? Meaning that you put it in the same place on the desktop on multiple computers (if you own them)?

My Recycle Bin is kept in the upper-left corner, because -- it's easy to drag stuff there.

Plus, I can't be bothered to have it any other way (and I WOULDN"T want it any other way). I'm liable to delete stuff by dragging it in there or right-clicking it, depending on what's convenient at the time, or what will get what I want off of my computer in the Recycle Bin quicker.

Top left. It always ends up there anyway after a computer restart because the machine can't remember where I put stuff last.

I find it strange that people choose the top of the screen. I mean, when you shrink a window, you can only do it from the bottom...

How is it strange? I don't think it's really strange to keep a Recycle Bin where you are most comfortable with it. I admit I was surprised that you kept it on the lower part of the screen, but only because I don't see it that often. The most common position I've seen Recycle Bins is in the top left corner.

Now as for shrinking windows, I have no idea what you are talking about. I can say that keeping the Recycle Bin on the top left corner or on the bottom right corner, or where ever you want it does not seem to make that much of a difference. It's still the same program. You still drag stuff into it. I don't see how difference in location makes any significant difference in the Recycle Bin's performance.

The funny thing is I've not really drug anything into the recycle bin. I guess partially since I try to keep the desktop as uncluttered as I can. I do a right click and delete usually.

: Back then, you could only shrink the windows from the bottom.

Maybe using whiteout instead of a recycle bin would be some folk's preference.

Yeah, I'm still a fan of windows 95 & 98. Those were truly simple operating systems. Ya just got on, got your work done, and got off. None of the stupid crap you have to go through today. Microsoft has made it's operating systems so visually appealing that it's lost sight of efficiency and functionality with windows vista. <_<

I like XP because it's so similar to those operating systems for me. Vista is a whole other world. I still can't stop thinking about the time the Recycle Bin went missing on a Vista computer I use occasionally....

: That's the problem. They haven't made many significant advances since windows 95. Vista is yesterdays newspaper with a bunch of visual crap you don't need.

Then you must be using a different Vista than I because the different between XP and Vista for me is very great. I can navigate through 95 and XP virtually the exact same way, but Vista, like I said, is a whole other world.

Just some very simple things have changed such as the "all programs" thing doesn't pop out and the taskbar is a different theme. You can change it all back to classic in the control panel and stuff. It's just the same thing as xp and windows 95, but it's arranged differently. They WANT you to think it's different, but it's really not. It's just the same crap we've been dealing with for 12 years now.

Well, they've changed the kernel and stuff like that, but that's not noticeable to normal computer users.

I just mean that nothing revolutionary has happened in so many years.....

MSDOS 5 to windows 3.1 was a HUGE advancement

windows 3.11 to windows 95 was also a large leap in computer technology.

But there is little difference between windows 95,98,2000,2000 pro,xp, and vista. Just a different kernel making you upgrade your software, better support for drivers, and a little bit of a visual makeover.

Last I checked Macs also use a keyboard and a one button (instead of two) mouse and its been that way for just as long.

: What's your point? What can they do that would really.....be a huge advancement in your eyes?
